November Homework:

Native American Tribes

Instructions:
For this homework assignment your child will be giving an oral presentation on a
Native American Tribe. Your child can pick a tribe from one of the following
regions: Great Plains, Southeast, Eastern Woodlands, Great Basin, Southwest,
Plateau, California, or Northwest Coast Native Americans. Each region has several
tribes. Your child may select one tribe from that region and research information
about that tribe. Your child will give a 3-5 minute oral report that discuss the
following:
 The region the tribe is from
 What clothing the Native Americans in that tribe wore.
 What was their housing like? Did they live in teepees, longhouses, etc. and
what was the life like in their home?
 What were the roles of the women, men, and children in this tribe?
 What food did they eat?
 At least 2 interesting facts about the tribe.
This is an oral report so your child must practice the presentation at home. They
will need write flashcards with their information to use the day of the
presentation. However, the students should be familiar with the material and
shouldn’t be reading off the cards the entire time. Your child will need at least
one prop. Your child can dress up like a Native American, bring in a model of the
home that tribe lived in, make a special headdress, or any special garments that
tribe may have used. These props can be store bought or child made. This project
will be due in class Wednesday, November 21st. All projects will be presented that
day.
