DOCENTE: Andrés Villarreal Herrera

TÓPICO GENERATIVO: “Listen to me class!!!”

MARCO CONCEPTUAL: IMPERATIVES

LESSON # 1
- Read the next information. Then do activities
1, 2 and 3.

IMPERATIVES

A). Imperative sentences are used when we need to give:

- an order or command: “Listen to me!” “Stop shouting!”

- a warning or prohibition: “Don´t do that!”

- an instruction: “Walk straight ahead 2 blocks and turn left”

- advice or a request: “Don´t think of that” / “Leave her alone, please!”

B). These sentences DON´T HAVE A SUBJECT. The verb goes in the infinitive form and they use the
exclamation mark ( ! ).

C). We use DON´T when the imperative is negative. If we want to be more polite, we use “PLEASE”, before
or at the end of the sentence.

What are the most common imperatives you listen to in class? And at home? Write them down.
