Chiang Mai – Sightseeing


Doi Inthanon
- This is the highest mountain in Thailand and is a
National Park. It’s located 100 Km away from
Chiang Mai and is a perfect place to do a trekking
and see the Phra Mahathat Napha Pagodas
(picture), waterfalls and a local market.
- It’s possible to do it in 1 day, but there is not
public transportation.

Doi Suthep
- Near to the center of Chiang Mai, in this
mountain is possible to find the Wat Phra temple,
Wat Umong (monk cave) and the winter real
palace.
- You can go by motorbike, public transportation or
bike. In any case you have to climb a few steps to
get to the top.

Chiang Rai
There are several buses per day that travel from Chiang Mai (Arcade bus station) to Chiang Rai, departing from 5:15
to 19:00 hours and with an approximated cost of 120 RMB for express buses (3,5 hours trip) and 55 RMB for the
normal bus (6,35 hours).

Wat Rong Khoun
- The white temple is relatively new (1997) and is
13 kilometers away from the city center, with cars
that can be taken in the central station (5 RMB).
- Maybe kitsch is the best adjective for this temple,
inside you can see a picture of Neo from Matrix,
and a plain crashing the twin towers (?).

Chiang Sen and Golden triangle


- Union point between Thailand, Laos and Myanmar
by the Mejong River. It was an important opium
trade and cultivation zone.
- You can see the Wat Phra That Doi Pu Khao -one
of the oldest temple in Thailand (S. VIII)- the big
Buddha, the opium museum and cross to Laos.
- There are buses from Chiang Rai with a 3 hours
trip (11 RMB).

Located at 200 kilometers from Chiang Mai, it’s possible to get there by public bus from the Arcade Bus Station or by minivan
from the Bus Station Chang Puak in a 3 hours trip (50 RMB).
