Netiquette
Netiquette
Netiquette
- A lot like real life etiquette which is basically a good conduct for having a good manners or
treating others with common courtesy and respect.
- It is how we act in online games or how we communicate in emails, instant messaging,
chatrooms and on message boards, blogs and social networking sites
There are so many rules when we are talking about Netiquette, but we have this 4 basic rules that
explains it all.
“They are not necessarily troublemakers; they just forget the rules”
2. Communicate Clearly
- Easy to read and understand (avoid using numbers and other symbols that not everyone can
understand
- Abbreviations and emoticons are fine with friends but not with formal communication (ex:
sending excuse letters to the professors)
- Do not write in all capital letters, on the internet it means yelling
- Tip – re-read what you write, check your tone, grammar, and spelling
4. Ask permission before posting anything about your friends on the blog or other social
networking sites.
- personal information is private and can ruin relationships.
- If you don’t want your parents, teachers or future employers to see your differently shot
pictures, don’t post it. Internet is not a private place
“In the Internet, it is easiest to be unidentified or anonymous, having an identity to hide behind can
make people pretty brave, they might forget they are dealing with human beings.”
Simple thing to remember, just like in real life, you should treat other people the way you wanna be
treated.
