1. Introduction
Poultry meat is an important source of high-quality proteins, minerals and
vitamins to balance the human diet. Specially developed varieties of chicken
(broilers) are now available with the traits of quick growth and high feed
conversion efficiency. Depending on the farm size, broiler farming can be a
main source of family income or can provide subsidiary income and gainful
employment to farmers throughout the year. Poultry manure is of high fertilizer
value which can be used for increasing yield of all crops.
BENEFITS OF POULTRY FARMING

1. It requires less investment compared to rearing other livestock

2. It gives rapid return on investment that is production can be increased
within a short period of time
3. It is a continuous source of income, it is not seasonal and can produce
income for the entire year
4. Poultry droppings that is wastes are nitrogenous and considered good for
fertilizers
5. Feathers in poultry are used for making pillows, fancy articles and curios.
6. It offers good full time or part time employment opportunity to farmers.

2. Scope for poultry farming

1. Increasing prosperity in emerging markets= people can afford to put more
eggs, chicken on the table.
2. Many youngsters becoming non-vegetarian under the influence of
advertisements e.g. KFC, McDonalds etc.
3. It takes far less feed to produce a kilo of chicken.
4. There is no religious sentiment associated with poultry.
5. Consumer studies from other countries say “when vegetarians choose to
convert to non-vegetarianism, they first experiment with poultry (egg &
chicken)

Location
The proposed unit will be located on a piece of land which is almost
levelled and is well connected to approach road. Electricity is available
near the farm site. A tube well with electric motor pump set already exits
in this land water will be used for proposed poultry farm and adequate
water of good quality is available in this tube well.

Proposed capacity/farm size
Initially I want to start with 500 country chicken per batch, with an idea
of increase in farm size further in future.
