Construction Trades

A. Define 10 labor’s list of Trades:

1. Construction Carpenters - are construction laborers that construct, repair, and
install building frameworks and structures made from wood and other building
materials.
2. Construction Laborers - A construction laborer or construction worker does
physical labor on construction sites. They may prepare sites by cleaning them,
loading or unloading materials and removing hazards. Most construction
laborers and helpers typically work full time and do physically demanding
work. Construction laborers have one of the highest rates of injuries and
illnesses of all occupations.
3. Electrician - is a tradesman specializing in electrical wiring of buildings,
transmission lines, stationary machines, and related equipment. Electricians
may be employed in the installation of new electrical components or the
maintenance and repair of existing electrical infrastructure. Electricians may
also specialize in wiring ships, airplanes, and other mobile platforms, as well as
data and cable lines.
4. Insulation Workers - insulation workers install and replace the materials used
to insulate buildings to help control and maintain the temperatures in buildings.
Insulators generally work indoors in residential and commercial settings.
5. Painters and Paperhangers - Painters and paperhangers apply finishes to walls,
ceilings, and other surfaces. Although painting and paperhanging are two
separate trades, many workers have mastered both. Painters apply paint,
varnish, and other finishes with brushes, rollers, and spray machines. These
finishes decorate and protect surfaces both inside and out. Paperhangers apply
wallpaper, vinyl, and fabric coverings to preserve and decorate the indoor
surfaces of older buildings as well as those under construction.
6. Structural and reinforcing iron and metal workers - A construction worker is
a manual laborer employed in the physical construction of the built environment
and its infrastructure. Structural/Ironworkers install structural and reinforcing
iron and steel to form and support buildings, bridges, and roads.
Structural/Ironworkers perform physically demanding and dangerous work,
often at great heights.
7. Sheetmetal Workers - Sheet metal workers fabricate or install products that are
made from thin metal sheets, such as ducts used in heating and air conditioning
systems. Sheet metal workers ensure you stay warm in the winter and cool in
the summer by making, assembling or servicing the heating and cooling
equipment in buildings.
8. Brickmason blockmason and stonemasons - create attractive, durable surfaces
and structures. Brickmasons and stonemasons also repair imperfections and
cracks and replace broken or missing masonry units in walls and floors.
9. Construction and building inspectors - Building inspectors are tasked with
ensuring that new construction projects are done according to codes set forth by
state, county, and local offices, as well as making sure that a project follows the
plans submitted when a building permit is granted to the general contractors in
charge of the project.
10. Construction equipment operators - also called operating engineers,
handle loading and excavation machines. They use these machines to dig and
lift sand, gravel, or earth. Paving and surface equipment operators use machines
to spread concrete and asphalt during the construction of roadways.
