Opening Song: Mahal na Santa Teresita

ORIGIN OF THE NOVENA

Father Putigan, a Jesuit, began the Novena to Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus on December 3, 1925, asking the glorious Saint for one great favor. For nine days he recited the
'Glory be to the Father' twenty-four times thanking the Holy Trinity for the favors and Graces showered on Saint Theresa during the twenty-four years of her life on earth. The
priest asked Saint Theresa, that as a sign that his novena was heard he would receive from someone a freshly plucked rose. On the third day of the novena, an unknown person
sought out Father Putigan and presented him with a beautiful rose. Father Putigan began the second novena on December 24 of the same year, and as a sign, asked for a white
rose.
On the fourth day of this novena one of the Sister-nurses brought him a white rose saying: 'Saint Theresa sent you this. '
Amazed, the priest asked: 'Where did you get this? ' 'I was in the chapel, ' said the Sister, 'and as I was leaving I passed the altar above which hangs the beautiful picture of
Saint Theresa. This rose fell at my feet. I wanted to put it back into the bouquet, but a thought came to me that I should bring it to you. ' Father Putigan received the favors he
had petitioned of the Little Flower of Jesus, and promised to spread the novena to increase devotion to, and bring her more honor. In this fashion, from the ninth to the
seventeenth of each month, those who want to participate in the Twenty-four 'Glory be to the Father's' novena, should add to those of their own, the intentions of all who are at
that time making the novena, thus forming one great prayer in common.

24 Glory Be..
The Glory Be Prayer
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
(After this Prayer, follow the twenty-four 'Glory Be's, ' between each of which may be included this short prayer:)

'Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus, pray for us.

LITTLE FLOWER NOVENA PRAYERS

St. Therese, who in your short life attained to angelic purity, generous love, and wholehearted surrender to Almighty God, pray for us who trust in you.
You have received the reward of your virtues; obtain for us the grace to be pure in heart and to avoid whatever may tarnish any virtue pleasing to God.
May we know every need the power of your prayers for us, comfort us in the sorrows of this life and especially at its end, that we may be worthy to share your happiness in
heaven. Amen.

Pray for us, Blessed Therese.

-that we may be worthy of the promises of Christ

Let us pray:
O Lord who has said: “Unless you become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of Heaven, grant us we implore you, to walk in the footsteps of Your
virginal spouse. Amen

Intentions for First Day

Faith
Almighty God and Creator of all things, to overcome lukewarmness and inflame souls with Your love, You have enriched the soul of Your Little Flower with such firm faith
that she longed to give her life for You, I ask You, by the merits of her lively faith to infuse in me a like faith. Grant that I may believe all the truths taught by the Catholic
Church and practice all virtues until death. Amen.
Our Father…. Hail Mary… Glory

Intentions for Second Day

Hope
Almighty God, You Who are glorified in Your saints, grant me the gift of hope as was evident in the life of St. Therese, that I may believe firmly in Your words: “Whatever
you ask in My name shall be given to you,” As St. Therese, turned away from the vanities of this world and consecrate herself to You with complete confidence, may I also
turn from those vanities and seek You alone, my love and my All. Amen.
Our Father…. Hail Mary… Glory

Intentions for Third Day

Love
My Jesus, grant that I may love You as much as St. Therese, Your Little Flower, and say with he: “ My Jesus, I beg You only for Your love, without limits and without
bounds. Grant my Jesus, that I may love You with the strength of a martyr. I wish to love You as You have never been loved.” And you, St. Therese, help me to be ever
grateful to him who loves me so much. Amen.
Our Father…. Hail Mary… Glory

Intentions for Fourth Day

Submission
My Lord and My God, you always will what is best for me. As Your Little Flower consecrated herself to You to endure all sufferings and pain, may I accept with perfect
resignation and even cheerfulness all the hardships that come to me in life, that I may be able to say, as did Your beloved spouse: “Jesus, I offer my hardships to You in the
name of Your love.” Amen.
Our Father…. Hail Mary… Glory

Intention for Fifth Day

Patience
My Lord, Innocence yourself, You endured all forms of shameful treatment for love of me. Give me the humility, self-denial, and patience to imitate Your spouse, St. Therese
of the Infant Jesus, and say with all my heart: “My despised Jesus, grant me, by the merits of Your humility and patience, to bear with a calm spirit all the sufferings of this
life, and then to enjoy Your company with Your spouse, the Little Flower.Amen
Our Father…. Hail Mary… Glory

Intentions for Sixth Day

Simplicity
My sweet Jesus, give me the charity and simplicity of St. Therese, she said her mission in heaven would be to make others love God as she loved Him, and to teach others to
seek and find God in the “little” things in life. Grant that I my not rest until I love God with all my strength and with the childlike simplicity of the Little Flower. Amen
Our Father…. Hail Mary… Glory

Intentions for Seventh Day

Humility
My Jesus, give the grace to practice virtue in little things. It is sometimes difficult, but I trust in Your goodness, and Your love for humble persons. I am so weak to climb the
ladder of perfection alone, but I know that I shall obtain from You the help I hope for. I join the Little Flower in asking You for this blessing. Amen.
Our Father…. Hail Mary… Glory

Intentions for Eight Day

Doing for Others
My God and my Love, give me on earth the same mission You gave Your Little Flower in Heaven, of spending my life doing good to my neighbor. My Jesus, help me to
console all men and encourage them to love You. May all love You as Your Immaculate Mother, your foster Father, St. Joseph. Your Holy angels, and St. Therese: “Let your
divine glance rest upon a vast number of little souls, worthy of Your Love.” Amen.
Our Father…. Hail Mary… Glory
Intentions for Ninth Day
Happy Death
My dear Lord, grant me the same childlike love for Your Foster Father and Your Holy and Immaculate Mother as St. Therese had. And you, St. Therese, ask my great
protector and Father, St. Joseph, and my holy Mother Mary, to obtain for me the grace of dying in the friendship of Jesus and expressing your own words: “My God, I love
You.” Amen.
Our Father…. Hail Mary… Glory

Concluding Prayers for Each day

O wonderful Little Flower of Jesus, who has been exalted by God and is now in the enjoyment of eternal bliss, lok down on us, your little friends, imploring your help in this
valley of tears. You had promised to “spend your heaven doing good on earth.” The countless answers to prayers in all parts of the world are addressed to you. Fill our hearts
with an untold confidence in your powerful intercession. You have helped thousands, you will help us also in our necessities, both spiritual and temporal. But above all,
obtain for us the greatest graces: to love God with our whole heart and never to be separated from Him by a single mortal sin, so that we may have the happiness of dying in
the friendship of our Creator and Father, and under the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary and your own. Amen

Closing Song:
LITTLE THERESE
Little Therese, Jesus has led on your way. Little Therese, Jesus has taught you how to fly soaring on high without a glimpse of the radiant sun you’re still were on your way.
Nothing has frightened you neither wind nor rain, nor the storm and dark clouds too.

Little Therese, the little bird with an eagle’s heart. Little Therese, so filled with confidence and trust in God’s merciful love. Inspite of your extreme littleness Your gaze was
fixed toward the sun. Wanting to fly so high on an eagle’s wings t’ward the fullness of His (God’s) embrace.

Coda: You taught the world the simple way to love God in a child like way. A love that swept the world on fire the Carmel walls have no strength to hide.

Little Therese, you’re like an than a child. Little Therese, your smile has charmed us with delight so pure and bright. You are so real for us Therese, our inspiration in this
life. From your bright throne above send us the rose of love. We love you so, Little Therese
