Life of St. Marcellin Champagnat

St. Marcellin Champagnat was born in fance in 1789 the French Revolution era, he is an
extraordinary man and he have done a lot of good things in his journey. he is the founder of the
Marist Brothers. He’s early life was just normal, but everything changed when the French
Revolution attacked, the place where he grows up was totally affected by the French revolution,
it was depressing and very corrupt, people were struggling for food and education. And since he
doesn’t like what he sees and feels bad about it he tried helping other people and joining the
priest, years later he met a person and this person was sick but not just sick he is also
uneducated and doesn’t seem to have strong faith in God. This person name was Jean Baptiste
Montage. So he help him out and regain the faith of God. Then so on St. Marcellin Champagnat
kept helping and helping.
Marcellin Champagnat was a man of simplicity, compassion, open-mindedness and trust in God
and Mary his Mother. His life is a witness to the truth that the actions of one man can make a
difference. His legacy is the Marist charism which is the essence of the Marist school
community – a family and an accepting place where all students, teachers, parents and helpers
work together for the common good.
