HAJI SURABAYA

By: Yani Asmiatin, S. Kep

Growth and development of the baby is largely determined by the amount

of milk obtained including the energy and other nutrients contained in breast milk,
but many mothers replace breast milk with formula milk when it is not good for a
baby. The purpose of this study was to compare the weight gain bada n in LBW
with breast milk (ASI) and the formula.

The research design used is case study . The research design used is
quantitative descriptive design . The samples were 4 infants with BBLR divided
into 2 infants with breast milk and two infants with formula formula with birth
weight 1500-2500 gram, with pure prematurity ie gestation less than 37 weeks .
The data were collected for 14 days by observing the baby's weight every day by
filling in the observation sheet.

Based on the results of research then in can not weight gain of LBW by
using A SI has increased , weight gain of LBW by using formula milk has
increased , and the difference of weight gain with breast milk and formula milk is
better than formula milk .

Asi is better than formula milk because it contains more proteins that are
easily absorbed by the baby's body and will affect the baby's weight gain, it is
expected that mothers with babies to breastfeed babies with breast milk so that the
nutritional needs required by the baby's body are met.
