A document analysis of Corazon C. Aquino’s speech during the joint session of the U.S.
Congress on September 18, 1986

Corazon C. Aquino’s speech during the joint united states congress is an important historical
document, and there is no doubt that it presented several remarkable facts about our country’s history.

The document presented one of the most unforgettable event in the Philippine history, the
Martial law, and how the Philippines suffered during those times, the arrest and the assassination of the
former senator and now a national hero Ninoy Aquino and other politicians and media personnel that
were in the opposition, the document also mentioned how the Pilipino people fought with their life in
risk to protect the democracy of the country, in the document it also include the snap election held
during that time with a purpose to prove that the Pilipino people still want the dictator to rule over
them and how the dictator tried to control the results of it , the document also presented the People
Power’s Revolution and the freedom of the country, and also Corazon Aquino being elected as the
president , not just that the document also shows that the relationship between the United States of
America and the Philippines was really close, the document also talks about the 26 billion dollars dept of
the Philippines during that time.

the document had may important facts, but it mainly focuses about the relationship between
the Philippines and the united states of America being friends with each other.
