Leadership and Change Management

19PGM45
1. Refreezing is often a forgotten and neglected phase of organisational change efforts. Does this help
explain why apparently successful change efforts often do not have lasting effects? Why is
refreezing so important? What is likely to happen if it is not done?

Change is an common threat that every organisation irrespective to the size, Market and age must
go through in order to avoid the phase they are working ,A good change model can have a greater
impact on organisations goal as it directly have an positive affective on the organisations primary
and most prioritized resource i.e. their human resource.

Lewins model of change had three steps which included Defreezing, Change,
Refreezing, This model refence the change as an change in shape of an organisations structure
where the shape of the organisation is to be moulded and fixed in a new right path that an
organisation is about to take, Why there must be a change in phase is something reason for
defreezing the organisations old path.

Refreezing phase involves methods to stabilize the change that is made in the
organisation, Changes that are bought are made as the new normal way of doing a work, Then
there must be a clear understanding of how the organisation is going to sustain over the change.
These steps are more important in the post change of organisations culture, Organisation failing
in this phase does have a greater impact of people not having a bond in the way the work behave
and sustain in the organisation.

Refreezing is more important than the change, I like to justify this because Change is done
in order to sustain the demanding and changing market situations, Changes that are bought into
an organisation must be followed, Once there is a change involved people in the organisation must
be ensured that they are following the new normal way ,Change must be cemented and accepted
as the new way of doing things. A great way to keep staff on track is by rewarding them for
positive actions, specifically behaviours that align with change objectives. Acknowledge good
performance with positive reinforcement, and understand refreezing is less permanent than ever
before. That’s because we live in a rapidly advancing business world, where technology
continually shifts consumer demands. Refreezing is important, but what is important in modern
business is you understand refreezing is subject to change,

If an organisation fails in refreezing there will be a failure in the change that the
company has opted, people gets confused which way should they follow and there will be a serious
issue on employee behaviour and coordination, Change must be converted in a way that
everyone in the field must know why the change is bought and why should he follow it .
2. Consider an organisation in existence for over a decade. Analyse the environmental factors
affecting the organization, in terms of its key economic, political, social and technological
aspects. Enumerate its competitive position vis-à-vis its closest competitors with respect to
the same factors.
