PRACTICE 3a

Skill: Organizing sequence of a process presented in linear text.

Instructions:- Below are six paragraphs which describe how olive oil is produced. These
paragraphs are not arranged in the correct sequence. Write down a number beside the
paragraph to show the sequence of the paragraphs.

Finally, oil is bottled and packaged before being shipped to various

countries.

The mash is spread onto thin mats which are stacked into a press. As
pressure is applied, oil and water seep out. No heat is used.

Once the olives are ripe, they are carefully harvested and taken to the
mill as soon as possible after picking.

Subsequently, the oil is checked for quality after pressing. Water is

separated and the oil is filtered to remove impurities. Some oil is left
unfiltered by preference.

To begin with, olive trees are carefully cultivated and many will produce
great olives for many years. The quality of olives depend on the soil and
weather during the growing season.

The olives are then cleaned. Twigs and leaves are removed before the
olives are crushed into a mash.
