TOURISM STUDENT MOVERS SOCIETY BY LAWS & CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE I: PREAMBLE

We the members of TourSM Society at NU-Laguna, believing in the need for a


better organized Tourism Organization and in the development of the BSTM students as
the future professionals in Tourism industry, do hereby promulgate and adopt this
Constitution and By Laws of the TourSM Society Organization in NU – Laguna that shall
advance, implement and maintain our goals and aspiration and promote welfare of all
students and academic standards of our Alma Mater.

ARTICLE II: NAME & DOMICILE

Section 1: Name – The name of this organization will be TourSM Society

TourSM is derived from the word "tourism", is an acronym for Tourism Student Movers
as this is a society representing tourism students of NU Laguna which aim to be the
catalysts of programs and activities towards the development of its membership, hence
carrying the word "movers" in its name.

Section 2: Domicile – The Tourism Organization will be at NU Laguna.

ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP

Section 1: The members of this organization shall be limited to the students who are
currently enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management at NU – Laguna.

Section 2: Membership in TourSM Society shall not be limited to persons based on


their race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, ability, or sexual orientation.

ARTICLE IV: DECLARATION OF PRINCIPLES AND PURPOSES

Section 1: Principles – The organization must be governed by the statutes and


precepts according to the mission, vision, and core values of the institution as well as
their own by-laws and constitution. The organization should also help the institution to
promote the compliance of each members for having the National University’s seven
core values.

Section 2: Purposes – The organization’s purposes shall be:

1. To provide opportunities for leadership development.


2. Promotes the social and professional development of the Tourism Management
students.
3. To help everybody manage their environmentally-induced stress by having a
strong relationship between the students.
4. To help every individual find their purpose in life through continuous positive
transformation.
5. To strengthen every individual’s faith in God and empower an intimate
relationship with Jesus.

ARTICLE V: BILL OF RIGHTS

Section 1: Members of this organization are given a freedom to raise their


voices and thoughts for the amelioration of the organization.
Section 2: The quorums are the ones who shall decide and make decisions
whenever there are situations that must have immediate solutions.

ARTICLE VI: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Section 1: President
● Call for a meeting if necessary.
● The one who must guide the organization.
Section 2: Vice President for Academics
 In case of absence of the President, the Vice President for Academics
shall be the one who will take the position of the President temporarily.
 The one who guides the organizations when it come to academic
activities.
Section 3: Vice President for Special Events / Non - Academics
● The one who must lead the organization during non – academic
activities.
Section 4: Vice President for Communications
 Facilitate Information dissemination of the organization’s update,
project, continuity and endeavors.
 Handles the social media accounts of the organizations.
Section 5: Vice President for Graphics & Media
 Responsible for all the public materials and documentation during the
events.
Section 6: Vice President for Finance
● Responsible of keeping the funds of the organization.
● Make a finance report every month to keep track of the organization’s
funds.
Section 7: Vice President for Auditing
● Double-check or Audit the treasurer’s work in terms of keeping and
itemizing accounts and funds.
Section 8: General Secretary
● Keep all the files of the organization.
● Record the minutes of the meeting.
● Check the attendance of every member during meetings.
Section 9: Batch/Class Representatives
● Responsible for keeping updated the year level they are representing.

Section 10: Board Member


 Represents the whole Tourism Department in the Council of Leaders.

Section 11: Members


● Comply with the rules and regulations of the organization.
● Be active on every activities being presented by the organization.
● Cohere or be participative in every meeting and gatherings.

ARTICLE VII: THE ORGANIZATION

Section 1: Mission

By purposefully aiming to be a premier organization, Tourism Student Society Movers


Organization shall promote meaningful involvement, multiculturalism, community
engagement and leadership development.

Section 2: Vision

To create a meaningful campus life for every Tourism Management students of NU


Laguna.

Section 3: Core Values

As the Tourism Student Society Movers Organization, we value the following:

3.1 Excellence. Tourism Student Society Movers Organization believes that teamwork,
creativity, and entrepreneurial skills achieve excellence. We are committed to the
continuous enhancement of our programs, services, and our organization's professional
growth.

3.2 Integrity. By upholding the highest standards and values that guide our
organization, the organization model integrity demonstrating honesty, ethical behavior,
and responsibility in all programs and services.

3.3 Leadership. We provide opportunities to build leadership skills that will enable
Tourism Management students in their respective communities to create positive
change.

3.4 Multiculturalism. The organization embraces an inclusive and culturally diverse


society. As this leads to respect for others and others culture, and inclusivity.

ARTICLE VIII: ACCOUNTABILITY OF THE ORGANIZATION

The Organization highly values the presence of its members with utmost permission
to negotiate on the frequency of their participation. No record of offense shall be given
to any member who in any case cannot attend or participate the activities of the
organization. Nevertheless, the following accounts are highly commended and are to be
considered:

1. Commitment to help one another in times of difficulties so that no one should left
behind.
2. Strengthen the capabilities of any member of the Tourism Management.
3. Maintain to be committed in the organization at all times.
4. Responsible in waving Gold and Blue inside and outside of the Campus.

ARTICLE IX: FISCAL POLICIES

The organization’s coordinators and the entire members pledge proper


allotment of funds on the works and activities in accord with the Organization’s
mission and vision which is, to strengthen the relationship of the external majority.
Thus, grounded with full honesty, the officers solemnly pledge that the expenditures
will be used carefully on its designated purpose.

ARTICLE X: ELECTION

Section 1: Election

a. Elections shall be made annually during the Annual General Assembly of each
Academic Year.

b. Officers shall be elected by majority vote. If no candidate receives a majority vote, a


runoff election shall be held between the two candidates receiving the highest number
of votes. In the event of a tie, there shall be a revote.

c. Votes shall be cast by secret ballot; however, when there is only one candidate for an
office, a motion may be made to elect the candidate by acclamation.

d. The Organization shall vote/elect the following officers: President, Vice President for
Academics, Vice President for Non – Academics/Special events, Vice President for
Communications, Vice President for Graphics and Media, Vice President for Finance,
Vice President for Auditing and General Secretary.

e. The Batch/Class representatives will be voted by their RESPECTIVE BATCHES


ONLY.

f. Board members are NOT elected officials. Thus, students from Tourism Management
who are currently BLUE SCHOLARS will be automatically be part of Organization’s
Officers as Board Member.

Section 2: Term of Office

Each elected officers shall take office right after the Annual General Assembly and
serve a one-year term and maybe re-elected to the same office for an additional one-
year term.

Section 3: Qualifications

a. Currently Enrolled in the Program Tourism Management.

b. Shall not have any record from the Guidance Office. Thus, running officers must have
a good moral character.

c. No failing grades such as “R” and “F”.

d. Must have a heart in serving other members of the organization.

e. Must pass an Intent Letter to be evaluated by the Organization’s Adviser and Current
Officers.

Section 4: COMELEC Committee

a. Must have at least 7 members headed by the COMELEC Chair, guided by


Organizations Adviser. It will be chosen by the Current Organizations Officers.

b. Prepare and distribute the necessary election paraphernalia, certificate of candidacy


forms, and other election related materials before the election day.

c. Not involved nor have been involved in any position or affiliation from the previous
and upcoming office term.

d. Shall conduct and supervise the election.

e. Shall announce the election results before the General Assembly ends.

ARTICLE XI: VACANCY & APPOINTMENTS

Section 1: If there will be a vacancy for the position of President, Vice President for
Academics shall be the Acting President of the organization until the date of Special
Election for the Position of President.

Section 2: If there will be any vacancy for the rest of the positions, the Executive
Committee shall appoint an Acting Officer for the office until the date of Special Election
for the vacant position/s.
ARTICLE XII: GENERAL PROVISIONS

Section 1: Name – The name of this organization shall be TourSM Society.

TourSM is derived from the word "tourism", is acronym for Tourism Student Movers as
this is a society representing tourism students of NU Laguna with aim to be the catalysts
of programs and activities towards the development of its membership, hence carrying
the word "movers" in its name.
Section 2: Management of Affairs – The organization’s matters shall be accomplished
by the officers as being mentioned by these by-laws.

Section 3: Logo –

The overall organization’s logo is themed to the National University’s Colors which are
blue and gold. The NU logo represents as the campus itself where the students are
molded, upskilled, and educated to go upward and beyond their aspirations as the
placement of the paper airplane. As for the paper airplane, it typifies the developing
stage of a student to become their very best (Real Airplane).

Section 4: Period of Duration – The period of duration of this organization shall be


continuous.

ARTICLE XIII: AMENDMENTS

Section 1: Selection

Proposed amendments to these bylaws shall be presented to the membership, in


writing, one meeting prior to the meeting where the amendment will be voted upon. The
Executive Committee and/or Bylaws Committee shall review and make
recommendations on all bylaw revisions prior to consideration by the membership.
Bylaw amendments require approval by two-thirds of the voting members present at a
regular meeting. The amendment shall be effective immediately unless otherwise
stipulated in the amendment.

Section 2: Notice

All members shall be given early notice of the proposed amendment not less than five
(5) days before the meeting by the Vice President for Communications. (There will be
changes of time or the time will be prolonged to the following meeting).

ARTICLE XIV: REPEALING CLAUSE

Section 1: Repealing Clause

All regulations, rules, laws, and other issuances which are unstable or varying with the
term of this act are by this means annulled or modified carefully and appropriately.

ARTICLE XV: EFFECTIVITY

This will take effect once the proposals are approved by the board of members of the
institution.
