Part of Indonesian society towards their children who are about to enter adulthood

is an achievement that is often celebrated because it is an important moment for teenagers.

In general, the criteria for adulthood are stated at the celebration of the 17th (seventeen)
year old birthday, because at that age the child concerned is considered an adult and can be
responsible for him or her actions. At the age of 17 years, a teenager has become a adult
and the person concerned has met the requirements for the right to have a National
Identity Card (KTP) as a personal identity, by having a KTP the teenager can act
independently, taking legal actions, including opening a savings account and taking legal
actions at the bank. In addition, the person concerned can apply for a driving license (SIM)
so that he can drive a motorized vehicle.

Determining a person's adult age limit is important because it will determine

whether a person is legitimate to take legal action and a person's ability to commit a legal
act. In the Surat Edaran Mahkamah Agung, Surat Edaran Nomor 7 Tahun 2012 Tentang
Rumusan Hukum Hasil Rapat Pleno Mahkamah Agung Sebagai Pedoman Pelaksanaan Tugas
Bagi Pengadilan, describes the provisions regarding the limits of a person's maturity. It is
stated in the results of the Hasil Rapat Kamar Perdata on March 14-16, 2012, that adults
are capable of acting in law, namely people who have reached the age of 18 years or have
been married.

In conclusion, someone can be said to be an proper adult when they are 17 or 18

years old because at that age, they can consider what to do that related to good and bad
things.
