Introduction

The English Language Training for Vietnam Programme offers the opportunity for early
to mid-career government officials to study the English language in Hanoi. New Zealand
Scholarships are funded by the New Zealand Aid Programme and administered by the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The goal of the programme is to enhance English language capacity of selected


government officials from Vietnam in order for them to effectively chair ASEAN. The has
two key objectives:

▪ To improve English language communication skills and develop greater confidence


in using English language for formal and informal meetings and interactions; and

▪ To promote and strengthen relationships between participants and their Ministries


and to better understand and interact with ASEAN members and dialogue partners.
