1. What makes a School Administrator an Effective School Leader?


Answers:
School administrators have a great impact on student learning, teaching excellence and
overall school performance. For administrators to move beyond operational management to true
leadership, they need to understand the capacity of their staff, promote open communication,
and provide useful feedback. Emphasizing the importance of effective school administrator in
boosting teaching and learning is very essential. Leadership qualities of a good school
administrator further include determination, self-confidence and high emotional intelligence.
They embrace the school’s mission and vision. They possess ethical and moral core. They
strive for greatness and affirmatively recruit, hire mentor and support teachers and staff. They
give importance on the professional development by encouraging and helping teachers to stay
abreast of emerging technologies and pedagogy.

2. What are the chief uses of instructional materials in teaching?


Answers:

Instructional materials refer to the human and non-human materials and facilities that
can be used to ease, encourage, improved and promote teaching and learning activities. They
are whatever materials used in the process of instruction. Moreover, it also aids a student in
concretizing a learning experience so as to make learning more exciting, interesting and
interactive.
Thus, the importance of Instructional Materials or Educational resources is to improve
students’ knowledge, abilities, and skills, to monitor their assimilation of information, and to
contribute to their overall development and upbringing. It also clarifies important concepts to
arouse and sustain student’s interests, give all students in a class the opportunity to share
experiences necessary for new learning and help make learning more permanent.

3. What point of view should the teacher hold with respect to the place and use of
audiovisual aids in the classroom? What factors in planning audio visual aids indicate
the effective use of these aids?
Answers:

Audio visual aids are important in education system. Audio visual aids are those devices


which are used in classrooms to encourage teaching learning process and make it easier and
interesting. However, one thing that the teachers should be careful about is that the use of
audio-visual aids in the classroom should help them achieve their curriculum objectives. In view
of the fact that relying too much on technology, or using it thoughtlessly, might make it difficult
for them to achieve their intended learning outcomes. Teachers should understand that audio-
visual tools are there to assist them, not to take their place. Because at times these devices
sometimes act as a distraction.
There are factors that we should consider in planning the audio-visual aids to be effective,
First, it should suit the age level, grade level and other characteristics of the learners. Second,
select aids which are most appropriate for the particular learning activity. And most importantly,
it should meet the objectives and support the lesson plan. Because studies have shown that the
use of audio-visual aids in the classroom is greatly helpful for the students in developing an
understanding of complex concepts. The use of these devices enables the students to grasp
these concepts quickly and easily.
