Ergonomics

INEN 30133
Activity Sheet
Name: Ulalan, Gazelle Joy C. Assessment: 4

Section/Time: 3-BSIE-2 Score:

Discuss the remaining ergonomic hazard listed in activity 2 and give

measures. (exclude the hazard in activity 3)
60 pts.

• MOPPING OF FLOOR
Ergonomic Hazard:

1) When I push and pull the mop in

an awkward posture specially if the
mop is too short, it causes
backpains.

2) Also, when I squeeze the mop

after being washed in the water, I
exerted some force which
contributes to the back pain
because of the weight of the mop
being lifted.

Solution:

1) Using of long-handled mop in

cleaning will help in reaching areas
and to not bend the waist
frequently to avoid back pain.

2) You can just slide the mop into

its pale so that you will not going to
hold and squeeze the mop with
bare hands.
• BUYING OF DRINKING WATER
(I lived in the 3rd floor of the building.)

Ergonomic Hazard:

1) Lifting the jug filled with water

while walking in the stairs, can cause
back pains.

2) Accidentally tripping in the stairs

while carrying the water jug can
cause injury.

Solution:

1) Installation of a stair lift may lift

heavy things upwards of downwards
in order to prevent backpains.

2) This may also help in securing the

safety of the person to avoid tripping
out of stairs.
• COOKING IN A “SUPERKALAN” ON THE
KITCHEN TABLE
Ergonomic Hazard:

1) Going near the pot on top of the

“superkalan” to see if the food is
cooked or not can cause some injury
specially when frying.

2) The stove may fall while cooking

and can cause burns on the person is
cooking.

Solution:

1) Put the “superkalan” on a lower

stand to able to see if the food is
being cooked already.

2) Put it in a stand to secure the kalan

for it would not fall.
• CLEANING OF THE COMFORT ROOM

Ergonomic Hazard:

1) Can be slipped in the floor when

the soap on the floor is not properly
washed out from the floor

2) Improper positioning of the

shampoo bottles can cause injury
when it fell from where it is located
to the head of the person.

Solution:

1) Using of long brush to reach the

floor even when cleaning.

2) Organizers for shampoos and soaps

are necessary for it to be looked
clean, tidy and to never cause
slippery accidents.
