Synonym(s):
• Geoemyda yuwonoi McCord, Iverson & Boeadi, 1995
• Heosemys yuwonoi (McCord, Iverson and Boeadi, 1995)

Common Name(s):
• English: Sulawesi Forest Turtle
Taxonomic Notes:
Was treated under the generic name Geomyda in the 1996 IUCN Red List. Genus was changed to
Heosemys in the 2000 IUCN Red List. Now reassigned to a new monotypic genus, Leucocephalon (A.
Rhodin, pers comm.)

Trade in the species in East Asian markets, discovered among shipments in the early 1990s, peaked at an
estimated annual level of 2,000–3,000 animals in 1998 and collapsed to 100 animals in 1999.
