TASK ANALYSIS:
Learning Competency:
Illustrates an arithmetic sequence (M10AL- lb-1)

GUIDE CARD:
Good day! Today we are going to take up about
Arithmetic Sequence. What have you observed
on the given sequences below?

I observed that each term is

added by the same number to get
the next number….

a. 1, 4, 7, 10, 13
b. 15, 11, 7, 3, -1
c. 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, …
d. -1, -3, -5, -7, -9,…
e. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, …

Very well said!!! The sequences Very well

above are examples of an Arithmeticsaid!!! The
Sequence. sequences
Remember:
* An arithmetic sequence is a sequence where every term after the
first is obtained by adding a constant called the difference.
* Common difference (d) is the constant number added the
preceding term of the arithmetic sequence. It can be calculated by
subtracting any two consecutive terms in the arithmetic sequence
(d = an – an- 1).

The sequences 1, 4, 7, 10, … and 15, 11, 7, 3, … are examples of

arithmetic sequences since each one has a common difference of 3 and -4,
respectively.

Examples:
a. 1, 4, 7, 10, 13
+3 +3 +3 +3 common difference
b. 15, 11, 7, 3, -1
+(-4) +(-4) +(-4) +(-4) common difference
