INSTRUCTIONS
HAT
With smaller needles and CC, CO 100. Break yarn.

With MC: Place unique stitch marker and join in round.

Knit one rnd, then work 2x2 Rib for 6 rnds.

Change to larger needles and decrease: K2tog, k 10, *pm, k11; repeat from * until end of round. (99 sts)

Join CC . Work rnds 1-3 of Hat Char t 1. Work rnds 1-11 of Hat Char t 2 twice, then work rnds 1-12 of Hat Char t 3. (81 sts)

Break CC . With MC, shape crown, changing to dpn when necessar y:

Rnd 1: Knit.
Rnd 2: *Knit to 2 sts before m, k2tog; rep from * to end. (72 sts)
Rnd 3: Knit.
Rnds 4-9: Rep Rnd 2. (18 sts)
Rnd 10: K2tog around, removing markers along the way. (9 sts)

FINISHING
Break yarn, thread through remaining sts, draw tight, and fasten off.

COWL
With smaller needles and CC, CO 120. Break yarn.

With MC: Place unique stitch marker and join in round.

Knit one rnd, then work 2x2 Rib for 6 rnds.

Change to larger needles. Increase: M1, k 10, *pm, k11; repeat from * until end of round. (121 sts)

Join CC . Work rnds 1-3 of Cowl Char t 1, then work rnds 1-11 of Cowl Char t 2 three times, then work rnds 1-8 of Cowl
Char t 3. Break CC . Next rnd: With MC, k2tog, then knit to end of round, removing markers along the way. Leave beg-of-rnd
marker.

Change to smaller needles and work 2x2 Rib for 7 rnds. Break MC .

With CC, bind off in rib.

FINISHING
Sew in ends. Block gently. If desired, use CC to make a pompom and sew to top of hat.
