Workshop C6
START END
You have formed your project groups – VERY IMPORTANT:
each with 6 members. During today’s List your group member names on the compiled document and ensure that a
workshop you will work in your project Student Assistant sign off the work you have done. Make sure you do not
groups. leave the class unless you feel confident in your knowledge of SU6.
We focus on drawing up requirements today. It is a very important to capture requirements accurately, since
many subsequent steps rely on it!
ACTIONS:
1. Which of the example requirements are functional and which nonfunctional? Indicate it next to the requirement
listed.
2. Use one of the example requirements and the template below to draw up a requirement specification (see an
explanation at the back of this page). NOTE: You will find a second template (from our textbook) under eFundi
Week 6 Workshop. You may choose any of the two templates, or you may find one on the Internet, or you may
design your own.
3. Now use your template of choice to represent the requirements for your project group system. You may start by
brainstorming potential requirements, but you should verify their inclusion by using the techniques prescribed by
our textbook.
Example requirements:
Secretaries shall be able to add, alter or edit personal detail
The system must run under the version of Linux that is currently installed in the lab
A novice user should be able to use the system after a 3 minute training
A librarian should be able to request the printing of reminders to be sent to borrowers
of library books which are more than a week overdue.
A library book is overdue when it has not been returned 28 days after the date of issue.
