Exercises on the usage of Past Simple and the irregular verbs

Exercise I
Complete the sentences with the verbs in the brackets. Put them in Past Simple
form.
1) I (can) help you with your home tasks.
2) He (catch) the ball when it hit his head.
3) We (buy) a new house last year.
4) They (bring) a lot of food with them, when they (come) to visit us.
5) I (fall) on my back, when the bike hit the tree.

Exercise III
Put the verbs, given below in the questions form of Past Simple:
Bring, buy, be, become, cut, come, blow, drink, eat, choose, catch, can, fall,
feel, do, break, begin, find, forget, get, give, go.
a) Make question with the affirmative verb (help verb) – did.
b) Make question with the question words: How, When, Why, Where, What.

Exercise IV
Practise making a negative form in Past Simple:
a) Put the sentences from the exercise I into negative form.
b) Make sentences with the negative form with the next verbs: Bring, buy,
be, become, cut, come, blow, drink, eat, choose, catch, can, fall, feel, do,
break, begin, find, forget, get, give, go.

Exercise V
Make up your story about a boy named Matt and use the verbs, given below.
Make the story in Past Simple.
