ACONIS-2000® Introduction

Dual configuration of ACONIS-2000 ®

Multiplication of Multi-Server
Implements several Stations individually, so that it can be possible to backup various
storage databases as well as the operational databases and perform substitute
operations with that function in case of breakdown of Station modules.

Dual System Network

All sorts of Station Modules which comprise the system base create two separate
Ethernet Path to make Dual operation of information between upperMulti-Server Stations
and SubPCM by transmitting the appropriate data through normal path from broken path.

Dual PCM(Process Control Module)

Creates PCM(Process Control Module) that deals with controls as two separate
modules for backup feature, transmit the appropriate data through normal modules in
case the current module has been broken, so that it can manage the Plant Control
Features.

Dual Power Supply Module

1. Concept of the database configurator

The database configurator is a collection of software that consists of Tag Point

configurator and control algorithm that PCM(Process Control Module) performs and
manages and download them to relevant PCM. Descriptions for those elements are as
follows.

1. Basic Concept of Control Algorithm

Explains basic concepts for control algorithm configurator, and for operational
constructions of control algorithms.

2. Database configurator
Control Algorithms comprises database Configurator and consists of Database on I/O
Controller, the more descriptions will be provided.

3. Logic Configurator
Describes of the detailed function and usages of various kind of Logic Configurator.

4. Function Code

ACONIS-2000® Database Configurator

2.1 Concepts of Function Block

All the Functions such as I/O, PID that PCM manages must be registered as a single
Tag, and relevant database must be designated. Therefore, define these series of data
composition as a single Function Block. Figure 2-1 represents the relationship related.

Function Tag Name F.C Record No. Input Blocks . . . .

Block

Figure 2-1. Function Block Structure

Tag Name:
Name for a single Function Block, as well as a name of a record registered in Database.

Function Code:
Classify the type of Functions that relevant Function Block must accomplish, for
example, 25 for Analog Input and 28 for Analog Output, and 19 for PID. Please
refer to 'Function Code' in Chapter 4. Operator Station stores and manages
database files for each Function Code, and PCM stores and manages the memory
to be classified.

Record No.:
Location of record, that is, where Function Block is stored in relevant database.

Input Blocks:
Indicate Function Block Tag Name in case the other Function block's data is needed.

20 September 2004 Aconis-2000 User’s Manual 27

ACONIS-2000® Database Configurator

2.2 Concepts of Building Function Block

To control the Plant process, the organic relationship between multiple functions must
be accomplished. To do this, our system adopts Building of Function Blocks explained
previously.

For more representation, let's start with a simple control loop example in Figure 2-2.

Operator Setting Control Algorithm

Figure 2-3 represents the logical block map, which consists of three Functions, such as

Figure 2-3. Logical Block Map of Control-Loop

Therefore, basic three functions blocks must be written as database to construct those
control algorithms, and each element must accomplish other things. The Figure in the
right side represents the Block Map that this system uses.

28 Aconis-2000 User’s Manual 20 September 2004

ACONIS-2000® Database Configurator

More descriptions are as follows.

AI Function Block reads actual value from external Analog input machine and stores
them in Block address '1000'. (Output address is fixed automatically)
PID Function performs PID calculation using the value taken from Block Address
'1000' as process value, and stores the result in Block address '1012'. (Set Point is
supposed to be controlled by Operator directly. Output Address is fixed
automatically)
AO Function Block takes the value from Block address '1012', the result of PID
control, and transmit the value to external Analog Output device.

The construction of control algorithms for this system is summarized that each Function
Block is assigned for Block address. So, these processes are called as 'Building Function
Block'.

2.3 Concepts of Resource

Basically, Relevant Base Database Files for each process are stored in individual
directory to manage the database of Operator Station. And the collection of database files
is called a single Resource. Figure 2-4 represents the structure of Database file
directory.

Figure 2-4. Database file directory structure

20 September 2004 Aconis-2000 User’s Manual 29

ACONIS-2000® Database Configurator

Like Figure 2-4, Every Database is stored in HiMAX_DBF directory. And they are
divided as several subdirectories, which store database files to be downloaded to a single
process or a single PCM. A directory sorted like this way is called a single Resource.
Therefore, when PCM configuration, the relevant PCM must be defined to manage
which process or work, that is, to be assigned which Resource. Besides, Dual of PCM is
simply accomplished by assigning same resource to 2 PCM elements. The next chapter
will provide more explanations on those parts.

5. FUNCTION CODE DESIGN

5.1 Common Database Fields

Each parameter, Tag name, upper/lower marginal value, and so on which consists
of Function Code are written, stored and managed as database form. The database forms
are provided individually, so the types and numbers of field that consists of Function Code
are totally different. But there are a lot of common fields that almost every Function Code
Database has, so the descriptions on them are to be provided later.

SQEC (Squared Error Coefficient)

Set the weighting factor that takes squared error by following equation where re
element should be taken before inserting error in PID. Square isn't applied for 0, while
entire errors are taken to square for 1.
Error* = error[(1-SQEC) + SQEC * |error|]

GSPT (Gap of Set Point)

In case that PID doesn't have to be executed actively to error in small range, PID
operations in gap range act passively by setting gap element in error input.

WFG(Weighting Factor of Gap)

Set the weighting factor of gap operation. 0 for the non-acceptance of error in the
Gap and 1 for the non-gap operation that means to take every error operation..
Error* = error(1-GAPC)

1.3 Resource Download

Downloading to All Servers and Select Resource(s) can be divided as Initial-download

and Online download.
Initial download initializes all related information of Resource by generating ID address
of each Tag point.
Otherwise, Online download only downloads revised DB information with maintaining
current information such as the value of each Tag point.

1.3.1 Generation of ID Address

Generation of ID Address is preceding operation before downloading. Each Tag point

generates ID address which can be recognized at Resource. HICM860 provides ID
address that represents Real and Virtual point as the combination of 2byte (16bit) data to
process raw data from the field side.
Combination of this ID Address is defined as one block. (Refer table 1-1)

164 Aconis-2000 User’s Manual 20 September 2004

Table 1-1. Structure of ID Address

Items Analog/Digital Resource No. Record Count.

A bbb cccc cccc cccc
Size 1 bit 3 bit 12 bit

As indicated in the Table 1-1, a new ID address which has 16bits data is created and
the first 1bit indicated as “a” is to determine whether it is Analog or Digital. The next 3 bits
indicate the number of Resource and then the rest 12bits are sequentially determined
without duplication.

1.3.2 Initial-Download & Online-Download

When a download is executed, the data is downloaded into the related server and
process communication controller in combination with the Resource. While the download
is executed by P2P(peer to peer), the time is able to be adjusted to manage the data
received from Resource as shown on the figure 1-3. This function can show by click of
“Tune Comm. Speed” button on setting menu of upper side in main menu.

Figure 1-3. Time Delay Setting

The “Initial-Download” is come into use to initialize all data. If the Initial-download is
activate, all the previous data is to be initialized and it also possible to display the new
data(as initialized data) through Multi-server and HMI.
The functionality of “Online-Download” is similar with the function of Initial-Download.
But “Online-Download” can keep the current data after the download. This means that
ID data is kept for the current applying data but new ID address for the additional tag will
be created. And the revised data of DB field is downloaded.
When select the relevant Resource and click Initial-Download button on main menu, a
confirmation message will be shown. If confirms “Yes” button, the download starts.

1. net-MPM (NETWORK MAIN Process Module) Concept

Net-MPM is a processor that executes bi-directional communication with PCM (HICM860)

while collects and transmits the field information through bi-directional communication with I/O
module by CAN or HDLC, or controls the field equipments by collected information.
Data from I/O modules are received and treated by both the primary and the secondary
MPM at the same time, but only the primary MPM can communicate with the upper system or
execute command to the output module. A secondary MPM handles all data and is performed
as backup function of a primary MPM.
If a primary MPM fails, then a secondary MPM will be performed as primary MPM function.

1.2.1 I/O Configuration

HRC-net consist of MPM(Main Processor Module)and various I/O module. I/O
module consist of AI-RTD(Analog Input and Resistance Thermal Detector), AO(Analog
Output) , DI(Digital Input), PI(Pulse Input) and DO(Digital Output) module. Maximum 16
of I/O module can be connected to one set of MPM.
I/O modules are configured with various arrangement depend on the type of vessel.
I/O Configuration is the process to set the configuration of I/O module to MPM. If the I/O
Configuration is not matched to the actual configuration, the communication is impossible.
The I/O Configuration will be saved in the non-volatile memory on MPM and the data will
be loaded when the system is rebooted.

Commend ‘i’ on terminal will display below example;

1.2.3 Baud rate Select for HDLC

HRC-net MPM(Main Processor Module) communicate to upper server via HICM860.
HDBUS® communication protocol is applied to transmit data with 62.6[kbps] or 250[kbps]
communication speed. HDBUS using Z8530 communication chipset is able to set the
communication speed by below commend. HICM860 requests to a lower system to
transmit data every 80[msec]. If 10 of lower systems are connected to HICM860, each
lower system transmit the data every 800[msec] via communication bus.

Ex> To set the communication speed to 62.6[kbps]

Ex> To set the communication speed to 250[kbps]

HRC-net>>bau2

1.2.4 Address Set NET-MPM

HRC-net MPM(Main Processor Module) is communicate with upper server via
HICM860. HDBUS® communication protocol is applied for the communication.
HDBUS with RS485 and multi-drop method allows to connect various sub-stations via a
bus. Communication controller(HICM860) use polling type request to get information
from sub-station and the sub-station reply for the request from HICM860. So each sub-
station are not need to be controlled for the communication but need its address only.
HRC-net MPM(Main Processor Module) is the processor redundancy structure. Two
MPM share the I/O data to secure safety. The primary and secondary MPM was
identified for the convenience in the system, but actually HICM860 communicates with

20 September 2004 Aconis-2000 User’s Manual 261

ACONIS-2000® H/W User’s Manual 262

two MPM separately. HICM860 regards two MPM as independent sub-station. So each
MPM must have independent address.
To allocate two address of MPM without modification of entire address configuration,
1’s complement of primary address will be the address of secondary MPM. For example,
If the address of primary MPM is 0x01 then the address of secondary MPM will be 0xfe.
HICM860 start communication with a MPM randomly. If the HICM860 and MPM
communicate properly, HICM860 continue the communication with the MPM. If the
abnormal communication such as disconnection of communication line or abnormal
operation of MPM is continued during specified time, HICM860 transfer the
communication to the other MPM without notification. 1’s complement of the abnormal
MPM address will be the address of transferred MPM. This is the redundancy of the
communication between HICM860 and MPM.

The communication chipset(Z8530) installed in MPM have the Id Auto Detection (ID
filtering) function. For example, the address 0x01 MPM receives only its own address &
0xff-broadcasting address. As a result, the data packet from other address will be filtered.
This is the important function that CPU can make logical link without big burden at the bus
topology multi-drop communication environment. CPU’s burden regarding to keep the
logical linkage can be reduced because HiCM860 and MPM have the different Primary &
Secondary address. HiCM860 requests any data from Primary & Secondary MPM with
the different address and then, P&S MPM responds with the same address.

Ex> Changing the communication address to 23

HRC-net>>add23
The command will be performed and the address on the upper left of LCD will be
modified.

1.2.5 Select Primary or Secondary mode

MPM(Main Processor Module) communicates with Upper Server station via HiCM-860
and the processor redundancy is realized with the two MPM scheme. Therefore, one of
two MPMs has to be fixed as Primary and the other as Secondary by all means. If two
MPM are fixed as all primary mode or all secondary mode, the response to HiCM860 will
be performed simultaneously. Then, the data packet conflict will be occurred. As a result,
it will be impossible to make the normal communication and the communication
equipment like transceiver(MAX485 or 75186) may be damaged.

1.2.6 Task Monitoring of HRC-net

HRC-net MPM((Main Processor Module) uses u-COS as Real-Time Operating system

and it makes the processors of MPM be used efficiently. MPM with Real time O/S
consists of 4 task and 2 interrupt service function.
4 tasks are as following,
- HDbus task for the upper side communication.
- CAN task for CAN communication
- Monitoring task to monitor the communication status and the operation of
I/O modules.
- Display task for User interface

Interrupt consists of SCC receiving interrupt(int #0), CAN receiving interrupt(int #1). The
details are,
- SCC receiving interrupt(int #0) when MPM receives the data request
packet from the upper HiCM860.
- CAN receiving interrupt(int #1) : when MPM receives CAN packet.

With confirming this task and interrupt occurrence case, you can check the stability of
communication chipset at the aspect of Hardware, the stability of communication line, and
the operation status of MPM. User can confirm the modification of task may be occurred
as mentioning above. If the upper HiCM860 requests the data, SCC receiving interrupt
will be occurred and for the interrupt service, O/S will change the “READY” status of
HDbus Task into “RUN”. Like that, CAN receiving interrupt is occurred and then, for the

20 September 2004 Aconis-2000 User’s Manual 263

interrupt service, O/S will change the “READY” status of CAN Task into “RUN”.
Monitoring Task and Display Task will be periodically called.

1.2.7 Watching I/O Card

HRC-net MPM communicate its I/O module. Input modules such as AI-RTD(Analog
Input and Resistance Thermal Detector), DI(Digital Input), PI(Pulse Input) transmit their
status to MPM via CAN communication and HICM860 transmit the status of output
module such as AO(Analog Output) and DO(Digital Output) to MPM via HDBUS. MPM
provide the monitoring function for the status of its total I/O modules.
Following commend shows the channel status of I/O modules. User can compare
these values with the actual value of I/O module.

1.2.10 Prohibit or Enable Watchdog for SCC and CAN Drive

HRC-net MPM has watchdog function to monitor the status of software and
hardware. Service engineer can enable[or disable] the watchdog function depend on the
environment. To enable the watchdog function is recommended considering vessel
condition.
The watchdog program is executed two ways;
If there is no request for the data transmission via SCC within specified period, the
watchdog program reset SCC communication driver several times. If there is no request
from HICM860 after reset, the watchdog reset the MPM.
Additionally, watchdog checks the CAN port. If there is no communication during
specified time, the watchdog reset CAN communication driver. If the communication is
recovered after reset, the watchdog reset the MPM.
Therefore, if the MPM is reset frequently during debug, it is considered that the SCC or
CAN communication is unstable.
See below to enable or disable the watchdog function.
