• INPUT DEVICES – tools from which the computer can accept data for
processing.
• CPU – silicon chip that process data and programs. It is also called
“the brain of computer”
• OUTPUT DEVICES – translate processed data into human readable
form.
• STORAGE DEVICES- stores data temporarily or permanent.
Capabilities of a Computer (things that computer can do)
• It is self-directing
• Saves and retrieved
• Computes complex formulas and generate accurate data
• It performs logical function
• Communicates with the users and other machine

11- MARK I was built by a team from IBM and Harvard University. Mark I
used mechanical telephone switches to store information. It accepted
data on punched cards, processed it and then output the new data.
