Aryabhatta and Al-Khwarizmi on Algebra.

Aryabhatta was an Indian mathematician and astronomer in the Vedic period. He had written
several books on arithmetic, time, and trigonometry, along with others. He also found out the value
of pi which he calculated as, 3.1416. On the other hand Al-Khwarizmi was a Persian mathematician
and scientist, who found algebra, and he was also the one to bring the decimal place value system
into the western world. He was also worked at the House of Wisdom in Baghdad, and translated
Indian mathematical texts into Arabic. It was Al-Khwarizmi, who discovered a way to use the
methods of balancing both sides of the equation. This was why he was given the name ‘father of
algebra ‘. But Aryabhatta was never known as ‘the father of geometry’, and even though he made
some discoveries in the field of algebra, the father of modern algebra was still Al-Khwarizmi.
