    Quiz No. 3

    Five steel beams 3 meters in length each carrying a service dead load of 18.75 kN/m including its own
    weight and a service live load of 37.50 kN/m is placed on 2 girders with a length of 6 meter each shown in
    the figure. The size of the girder is limited to 375 mm x 600 mm. Steel covering (from bar centroid to
    outermost fiber) is 100 mm for both tension and compression bars. Use f’c = 27.6 MPa and fy = 414 MPa.
    Design the girder. Let the unit weight of concrete be 24 kN/m3. Hint: Transmit the load of steel beams to
    the girder for you to analyze and design.
