ACTIVITY 5-1
1. Is our reverence of science justified?

Let’s define reverence first, it is a deep respect for something or someone. It is
how we act towards someone supreme or higher than us. Going back to the question, I
think it is justifiable that we revere to the study of science in order to know deeper some
phenomenon that exists. Our approach in studying facts and figures is credited through
the study of science, but we have to accept that there are somethings that we cannot
explain through Science. 

2. Are we successful in trying to tie down technology with what we conceive as

human flourishing?

In my opinion, yes, so far, we have been successful in developing Technology to

serve human flourishing. The term ‘flourishing’ in this case is labor-saving inventions to
create more leisure time.

3. What do you think constitutes human flourishing?

I think one of the reasons behind human flourishing is compassion. Compassion

means empathy for poor people— wishing they don't struggle. Most people might claim
happiness is exactly the same thing as being good for a human being. Yet the idea of
prosperity is a term of more evolutionary toning than pleasure.
