Question experiment 6.

1. Based on the results of this experiment:

(a) What is the effect on the brightness of the bulb if Np > Ns?

= bulb P is brighter compared to bulb S

(b) What is the relationship between Vp a

nd Vs if Np > Ns?

= Vp>VS

(c) What type of transformer is this?

= step-down transformer

2. Based on the results of this experiment:

(a) What is the effect on the brightness of the bulb if Np < Ns?

= bulb S is brighter compared to bulb P

(b) What is the relationship between Vp a

nd Vs if Np < Ns ?

= Vp<VS

(c) What type of transformer is this?

= step-up transformer

3. What happens to the change in voltage of the alternating current in a transformer if the difference
between the number of turns in its primary coil and the number of turns in its secondary coil is
increased?

= If the difference between the number of turns in the primary coil and the number of turns in this
secondary coil is increased, the difference between the primary voltage and secondary voltage
becomes bigger.

4. Why are the numbers of turns in the primary and secondary coils different in all transformers?

= The numbers of turns in the primary and secondary coils are different in all transformers because a
transformer only can change the voltage of an alternating current if the number of turns of the primary
coil and secondary coil is different. So. if the number of turns in the primary and secondary coil in a
transformer id the same, then the primary voltage and secondary voltage will no change.
