Heart of darkness from the title we know

that the dark will cover a big part in the

novel, and we will find a lot of ideas
connect with the darkness.
First of all, the darkness in the title has
two meaning the literary meaning which
is, that the darkness reflects the African
civilization itself. And symbolic meaning
which is, that the darkness it's about the
consciousness and the inner conflict the
Europeans have in Africa, also reflect the
psychological dark in the minds of the
Europeans.
In addition, we have a lot of dark words in
the novel and we can see clearly how the
idea of the Congo River lead to the idea of
darkness; first, the river represents the
British and the water is responsible for the
violent colonial events, so it’s about the
idea of colonization, it’s about the
imperialistic attitude towards African. And
actually, this attitude of colonial builds on
the idea of economy, that European want
to collect ivory. For this reason, Kurtz who
is one of the main characters in the novel
died because he has a psychologically dark
in his mind, this dark in his mind comes
from his greed that he wants to collect
ivory, this greed makes with him a
biological mental illness.
In conclusion, the idea of colonialism and
the reason of the colonialism lead to the
idea of madness and how this madness
makes in their minds dark, so all the ideas
in the novel related somehow to the title
and especially to the word darkness.
