around moderate to vigorous physical activities.

TV ESKWELA TEACHER: Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activities (MVPAs) are

6 the different activities we do every day. Let’s define first the 2 terms for us to fully

7 understand the lesson. Moderate intensity activities are defined as activities ranging

8 between 3 - < 6 Metabolic Equivalent. These activities require more oxygen

9 consumption than light activities. Some examples of moderate physical activities

10 include: sweeping the floor, Brisk walking, Recreational dancing, washing of

11 clothes, basketball game. Vigorous intensity activities are defined as activities ≥ 6

12 Metabolic Equivalent. Vigorous activities require the highest amount of oxygen

13 consumption to complete the activity. Examples of vigorous physical activities include:

14 running (5 mph>), swimming, shoveling, soccer, jumping rope, carrying heavy loads (i.e.

15 bricks). (PAUSE)

17 TEXT OVERLAY: REASONS WHY PEOPLE ENGAGE TO MVPAs

18 TV ESKWELA TEACHER: Now class, what do you think are the reasons why

19 people engage in MVPA? Some reasons may include the following: MVPA helps

20 weight management, it also reduces the following: stress, risk of heart disease,

21 and symptoms of depression and anxiety. MVPA also helps maintain strong

22 bones, increase one’s endurance and energy, improve coordination,

1 flexibility and agility. It also enhances the condition of your heart, lungs, posture

2 and balance (PAUSE).

5 MVPAs? (PAUSE) That’s right! We should always consider our safety in doing
