The Tourism Department is committed to provide opportunities to all


segments of society to participate in recreational activities that
promote Tourism at local and regional level. In this connection the
present scheme aims to restore the PAITHOM – Pakistan
Austrian Institute for Hotel Management which
comprises of 26 rooms boutique hotel with conference hall and two
restaurants located at Gulibagh Swat overlooking the river Swat. Established

for its unique teaching environment by means of mandatory boarding of 6
months. The present tourism industry needs capacity building and higher
educational degree formal institute. It is therefore planned to get the place in
workable / saleable condition so that it is operationalized either by the public
sector alone, in joint venture with other international similar institutes or
through private sector alone or on PPP mode. It is to for enhancing the
quality of services provided to the tourists through professional
vocational trainings and or higher degree level courses .
The aim is to make up for the destruction of the facility during the
unrest in Malakand region. The restoration of building and appropriate
faculty would enable the tourism sector organizations to utilize the
services of this institute. It would be equipped with all requisite
instrumentation and documentation conceived during the completion
of this institute. Initially on pilot basis the restored institute shall

million is not the exact estimate though it may swell up to additional
amount once all details plans for restoration are in place.

The project is part of the flag ship initiatives of the provincial
government. Once it is operationalized the systematic improvement in
the existing manpower and their services in tourism sector shall
enhance qualitative as well as quantitatively. After pilot phase it may
be offered to the private sector to start up capacity building and

in tourism that the Public sector is committed to make tourism a
source of income generation. It will also provide insights to increase

services while they are traveling from one site to another. It is in line
with the comprehensive development strategy.
Currently there is no such facility except the Clifton Karachi facility for
short courses and trainings. Its sister facility is present at Malam
Jabba restored through the private sector . The aim is to equip all
