Part III: TEACHING-LEARNING ACTIVITIES (TLA)

Globalization is said to be the creation of a “borderless world”. The phenomenon

of globalization has been defined as the "acceleration and intensification of economic
interaction among the people, companies, and governments of different nations
(Globalization 101.org.2007). It evokes images of a world in which goods, services,
capital, and information flow across seamless national borders. In this world, the
choices over where to produce, shop, invest, and save are no longer confined within
national borders but have taken on a decidedly global orientation (Ceglowski, 2018).
It is an accelerating set of processes that lead to an increasing integration and
interconnectivity by which the people of the world are incorporated into a single world
society. It is a process that increases either homogeneity or heterogeneity. Homogeneity
is often linked to Cultural Imperialism while Heterogeneity is associated with Cultural
Hybridization.
There are about ten (10) theories of globalization and each has varying views
about how people, governments, business companies and states interact and connect
with one another. Each perspective offers some truth but not a single theory is
absolutely accurate and true.
How did globalization start? What significant historical events led to its
development?
