SCHOOLS DIVISION OF KALINGA
Lower Tanudan District

INTRODUCTION

Lower Tanudan District is predominantly an IP community. IP Education may not really be

something new since even during the time of our forefathers, indigenous practices have been
integrated in the educational system.

Nevertheless, the district is very much grateful to the Department of Education for presently giving
attention to indigenous culture which highlights the preservation of values and simple living which
are the Paniyaw, Ngilin and Bain for Kalinga.

The Division of Kalinga has been conducted series of teacher’s and school head’s training on MTB-
MLE with 100% IP enrolment which one of the major breakthrough to reach out to the grass roots and
help them have clearer view of the IPEd program.

Then until now, efforts in contextualizing lesson plans and instructional materials have been done by
teachers at least in Kindergarten to grade 3 across all learning areas and across the eleven(11)
Elementary schools of the district. With this material on PINANGOL GRAMMAR, it is envisioned
that the learners of the district would have a better understanding of their own culture. In so doing,
they would come to appreciate and practice the values that their forefathers have held on to and
survived turbulent time with.
