What is façade?

A facade is generally one exterior side of a building, usually the front. It is a foreign loan
word from the French façade  which means "frontage" or "face".

In architecture, the facade of a building is often the most important aspect from a design
standpoint, as it sets the tone for the rest of the building. From the engineering perspective of a
building, the facade is also of great importance due to its impact on energy efficiency. For
historical facades, many local zoning regulations or other laws greatly restrict or even forbid
their alteration.

Different companies have different material and way of construction or assembly of parts.
Façade being one of the major components of a building has varies parts within its self to make
it look more aesthetically pleasing. Not only the look of the façade is considered but also other
factors such as it different capability to perform different action with change in weather etc.

materials. The company is a component of the Euro Stoxx 50 stock market index.

The company provides glass as external cladding or glasses that are used in doors and windows.

Major thing kept in mind while buying the glass for façade or any installation use are
transparency, color of coating, reflectivity, tempering etc.

The different types of glass produced and marketed by the company are:

ANNEALED GLASS:

This is pure glass that is used straight for the machines after being produced meaning it has not
been tampered with processes like toughening, lamination or heat strengthening. Its common
use is in residential windows. It has low toughness and tensile strength but is very strong in
compression.

Tensile strength: 40 N/sqm thermal strength: 50 degree C

TOUGHENED GLASS
this glass has undergone the process of controlled thermal treatment to increase its strength
making it mush stronger than annealed glass. Unique property of this glass is when it breaks it
shatters into small pieces. The process which helps in manufacturing of this glass changes it
physical properties from annealed glass hence resulting in better bending strength of glass.

Tensile strength: 75 N/sqm Thermal strength: 130 degree C

LAMINATED GLASS

This is basically sandwiching of lamination sheet between two sheets of glass. The PVB sheet
kept between the two glasses is the agent for keeping the glass stuck when the glass is broken.
It has reduced sound acoustic insulation.
