1 Installation procedure
1.1 18-5/8’’ Slip lock x 20-3/4 3K Starter head assembly

1. After successful installation of the 18 5/8’’ Casing rough cut the casing approximately
472mm from the base plate foundation

2. Remove excess pipe and install base plate foundation.

3. Measure 475 mm from bottom of base plate and mark on the pipe.

4. Carefully cut excess material with split ring cold casing cutter or grinding machine

5. Bevel and de-burr pipe with a 45 degree angle, remove all sharp edges

6. Carefully pick up starter head assembly and lightly grease seals. Inspect all seals are
clean and undamaged before installing the assembly

7. Carefully install starter head over casing stub. Make sure the starter head is hanging
completely straight before installation to prevent damage of the seals.

8. After successful installation of the starter head on base plate locate the test port on the
bottom portion of the starter head and install test fitting and test pump.

9. Pressure test FS seals 80% of the casing collapse for 15min or as instructed by the
drilling supervisor.

10. After satisfactory test remove test hose and fitting and re-install blind plug

11. Remove 4 off M10 transportation internal hex head screws to release the slips.

12. Energize the slip segments by making up the bolts in a cross-wise sequence until all the
bolts are firm tight.

13. Over pull starter head assembly with 10 metric tons maximum if required by the drilling
supervisor to confirm the setting of the slips.

14. Install drilling riser and BOP section.

1.2 Test BOP

After make-up of the BOP/Riser and periodically during the drilling of the
hole for the next casing string, the BOP stack (connections and rams) will
need to be tested.
NOTE:

Previously used BOP Testers must be inspected for damage due to wear.

NOTE:

1. Make up the BOP stack using a spare RX-74 Ring Gasket.

2. Examine the Test Plug/Combination tool and verify the following:

• O-ring seal is in place and undamaged
• All threads are clean and undamaged

3. Make up a joint of drill pipe to the top of the Tool.

4. Wipe the seal of the Tool with a light coat of oil.

5. Open the annulus valve of the Starter head assembly.

6. Slowly lower the Test Plug through the BOP and riser until it lands on the load shoulder in
the Starter Head.

7. Close the BOP rams on the drill pipe and test to 3,000 psi maximum.

8. Monitor the annulus valve for signs of pressure.

9. After a satisfactory test, close the annulus valve, release the pressure and open the rams.

10. Remove as much fluid from the BOP stack as possible per rig procedure.

11. Retrieve the Test Plug slowly to avoid damage to the seal.

It may be necessary to open the annulus valve when starting to retrieve

the Test Plug to relieve any vacuum that may occur.
NOTE:

12. Clean, grease and store the Tool as required.

13. Repeat this procedure as required during drilling operations.

1.3 Run Wear Bushing

1. Examine the 20-3/4 " Wear Bushing and combination tool. Verify the following:

• Bore is clean and in good condition

• J-slots are clean and unobstructed
• Stop lugs are locked securely in place
• External diameter is clean and undamaged.

2. Orientate the Wear Bushing with the J-slots up.

3. Orientate the Combination Tool with the lift lugs at the bottom and make up a joint of drill
pipe to the top.

4. Lower the Combination Tool into the Wear Bushing and rotate the Tool 1/4 turn clockwise
until it stops in the J-slots.

5. Lightly grease wear bushing outer O-rings

6. Slowly lower the Tool/ Wear Bushing Assembly through the BOP stack and into the Starter
head, until it lands on the load shoulder.

Measure landing point for future reference of the casing hanger.

NOTE:

7. Remove the Tool from the Wear Bushing by rotating the drill pipe clockwise 1/4 turn and lift
straight up.

8. Drill as required.

1.4 Retrieve Wear Bushing

1. Make up the Running & Retrieving Tool to the drill pipe with the lift lugs down.

2. Slowly lower the Running & Retrieving Tool into the Wear Bushing.

3. Rotate the Running & Retrieving Tool clockwise until the drill pipe drops approximately 2".
This indicates the lugs have aligned with the Wear Bushing slots.

4. Rotate the Tool clockwise 1/4 turn to fully engage the lugs in the Wear Bushing.

5. Slowly retrieve the Wear Bushing and remove it and the Running & Retrieving Tool from the
drill string.

6. Clean, grease and store the Running & Retrieving Tool and Wear Bushing.

1.5 Installation 13 5/8 casing and slip hanger

1. After successful installation and cementing of the 13 5/8’’ casing. Lift drilling riser
and BOP stack approx. 1m and install 2 support plates on top of the starter head.

2. Split the slip hanger assembly and re-install around the pipe on top the support
plates. Make sure all the seals are clean and undamaged, grease lightly

3. Over pull casing string with 10 metric tons and hold in tension.

4. Carefully measure the centralisation of the pipe. The pipe has to be properly
centralised for successful installation of the slip hanger.

5. Use 2 chain hoists with slings from 2 fixed points to pull the pipe to well center.

6. After successfully centering of the pipe remove support plates by pulling

simultaneously from 2 sides to drop the slips.

7. Slack of all casing weight

8. Rough cut casing approx. 500 mm above flange and remove excess pipe, drilling
riser and BOP stack

9. Continue next section operations.
