Using Oracle from outside the Department.

With Microsoft Windows, one way of doing this is to copy files from the
Department’s system, edit them locally on your computer then upload them back to
the Department’s system where you are logged into Oracle. You need café access but
this may already have been set up for you. In addition, you need

1. a simple text editor – the simpler the better for example:

http://www.lancs.ac.uk/staff/steveb/cpaap/pfe/

2. some means of copying your file from your computer to CIS for example:
http://filezilla-project.org/

3. SSH or Putty to log into the department's Oracle:

http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html

Use cafe.cis.strath.ac.uk as the address for Filezilla and Putty.
