1. Comply with the general safety instructions for the mechanical assemblies (AMM
60-00-00,3-1).

F. Procedure

- IT IS RECOMMENDED TO SECURE THE TAIL ROTOR DRIVE BY

TIGHTENING THE ROTOR BRAKE TO WORK ON THE TAIL ROTOR.
- COMPLY WITH THE PITCH CHANGE LINK PAINT MARKING IN
ORDER TO OBSERVE BALANCING.

1. Pitch change link removal.

a. Pitch change link (5) disconnection on blade side.

(1) Remove and discard cotter pin (1).

(2) Remove and discard nut (2).

(3) Remove washers (3) and bolt (4).

b. Pitch change link (5) disconnection on control plate side.

(1) Remove and discard cotter pin (9).

(2) Remove and discard nut (8).

(3) Remove washers (7) and bolt (6).

2. Pitch change link installation.

a. Pitch change link (5) connection on blade side.

(1) Install bolt (4) and washers (3).

Bolts (4) must be installed in the opposite direction of rotation of the

rotor.

(2) Install new nut (2).

(3) Torque nut (2).

(4) Safety nut (2) with the new cotter pin (1).

b. Pitch change link (5) connection on control plate side.

(1) Install bolt (6) and washers (7).

Bolts (6) must be installed in the opposite direction of rotation of the

rotor.

(2) Install new nut (8).

(3) Torque nut (8).

(4) Safety nut (8) with the new cotter pin (9).

G. Close-up

1. Manually check for free rocking of the blade assembly with respect to the rotor
hub.

2. If pitch change links are replaced, check the unbalance of the tail rotor (AMM
64-10-00,5-1).

3. Do the adjustment of the flight controls of the tail rotor (AMM 67-21-00,5-1) or
(AMM 67-21-01,5-1).

Foolproofing of the pitch-change links, after adjusting the unbalance, with a

strip of red adhesive tape (10 mm (.4 in.) min) on one of the links and a strip of
yellow adhesive tape (10 mm (.4 in.) min) on the other, then apply Varnish CM
514.
