RNA-SARS-CoV-2 Detection through nucleic acids amplification (TMA/PCR)
INTENDED USE
METHOD
Transcription mediated Amplification (TMA) and detection of the highly conserved regions of the viral
genome of SARS-CoV-2 through Procleix Panther System (Grifols) analyzer.
Depending of the type and volume of the sample, the test could be performed by Polymerase Chain Reaction
(PCR): transcription of the isolated RNA and generation of complementary DNA by reverse transcriptation
which is followed by the amplification of a conserved region of ORF1ab and N genes for SARS-CoV-2,
through “VIASURE SARS-CoV-2 Real Time PCR Detection Kit” (Certest)
The results of the test should be evaluated by a health care professional in the context of medical
history, clinical symptoms and other diagnostic tests.
False Negative results may arise from several factors including improper specimens’ collection,
transport, storage, and/or handling methods.
If result of the test is negative and the patient’s clinical presentation and epidemiological
information suggest that SARS-CoV-2 infection is possible, it is recommended the performance
of additional tests (IgM and IgG antibodies)
This test is only valid inside the limits of genomic regions for which primers and probes have
been chosen. This system could theorically yield false results in case of the presence of very
unusual variations of sequences located in the genomic regions chosen for primers and probes.
Also in case of detection of regions for which it was not designed.
