Summary

-Harold was taken captive by Guy I, William tries to release him in


exchange of his loyalty
-Harold agrees but breaks his word. Harold is the new king
-William is angry and tries to invade England
-Harald Hadrada, the Viking King, also tries to invade England at the same
time
-Harold defeats the Vikings but learns that the Normans are invading them
-Harold fights William in the Battle of Hasting and dies
-December 25 1066, William the Bastard was crowned as the first Norman
King of England
Why is this important?

This event marks the start of the long and unhealthy relationship between
