NOTE: Pre-packaged component sets include set screw, spring and pin. One set contains 10 set screws, 10
springs and 10 pins. The spring and pin are for the longest punch available for the set. User must cut the
spring and pin to size for shorter length punches.

Optima®
Developed by Wilson Tool Engineers, Optima is a great choice for most applications. With a micro hardness of 3500
HV, Optima far exceeds the hardness levels that can be achieved with conventional tool steels and may outlast
untreated tools by as much as 5-7 times. Optima provides increased wear resistance, improves surface finish and
greater resistance to corner breakdown. It has a coefficient of friction 0.3 and a purple to gray color.
OptimaX
Takes our original Optima coating to the next level. This two part coating process offers all the wear resistance and
hardness of Optima plus provides added lubricity and further reduces galling. OptimaX is ideal for stamping material
such as aluminum as well as for forming carbon steels, alloy steels, stainless
and Aluminum. It has a black color and a coefficient of friction of 0.05.
TiCrN
This nano-layer coating with a micro hardness of 4000 HV provides a very
high hardness in conjunction with low friction and galling resistance. It has a
pale gold/silver color and a coefficient friction of 0.40. TiCrN is a general
purpose coating for piercing and forming applications. TiCrN works well in all
types of materials, both ferrous and non-ferrous.
Wearbeater
This is a Titanium Nitride coating (TiN) with a hardness of 2300 HV.
Wearbeater reduces galling on galvanized and soft materials by increasing
lubricity. It is used in forming and extrusion applications. Wearbeater has a gold color and a coefficient of friction of
0.4.
AlCrN
A next generation film which provides excellent hardness and wear resistance when piercing materials such as HSLA
and Stainless Steel. ALCrN has a micro hardness of 3200 HV and a Grey color. It has a coefficient of friction of 0.6.
AlCrN is substantially tougher than TiAlN and AlTiN, which makes it more suitable for high impact applications.
(Note: Not recommended for aluminum applications.)
TiZrN
The multi-layer film structure of TiZrN gives it exceptional hardness and toughness; it has a micro hardness of 3500
HV. TiZrN was designed for stamping and forming non-ferrous materials like, but not limited to, aluminum, brass and
bronze. It has a pale gold color and a coefficient of friction of 0.55. TiZrN is a great coating for wear resistance.
