Composed by Joey Ayala
JOEY AYALA - MAGKABILAAN ANG MUNDO

Lyrics
MAGKABILAAN (ENGLISH TRANSLATION)

The truth has two faces There are kings without power
What’s right for you is wrong for others And there slaves who are more free than others
There’s white, there’s black, light and dark There are soldiers who are in war with
Some rises up while some fall themselves
Water is to fire and land is to the sky And some dies that lives forever
Day is to the night and cold is to the heat There are two sides to the world
When one is lost, others can’t be understood There are lefts and rights to our society
The strong and weak are brothers We continue to bicker and fight
There are two sides to the world Pick a side, pick a side, do not delay
The work of the many is wealth to the few Those who won’t are left in the middle
The ones that feed are with emptied belly Putrescent, are the pillars of our society
The ones who build tall buildings and roads Strong, are the beliefs to change
Are the ones with muddy streets to their Carefully search your beliefs
homes For there are two sides to the world
There are two sides to the world
JOEY AYALA - MAGKABILAAN ANG MUNDO

• "Magkabilaan ang Mundo" as Joey Ayala sang. There are always two opposing sides at
work. Good and evil, life and death, order and chaos, health and illness, light and dark,
wealth and poverty, R'hollor vs the Great Other - it would seem that in this universe,
there are always two sides locked in a constant struggle. Significantly, one needs the other
to exist. How can there be the notion of salvation if there is no suffering to save from?
How can we get high in happiness if there is no loneliness to make us empty.

THEME

The theme of the story is about love and obsession.

The story revolves around the lesson in the saying that goes a little like this: Accept the
things that you cannot change, change the things that you can and know the difference
between the two. In the story, the main character cannot face the reality that his love is
taken and can never love him back, but he persists and meets his fate
If you force something that was never meant to be, you will face the consequences.
CONFLICT OF THE STORY

• Man vs. Man

• The conflict of the story is where the main character is madly in love with the girl who
does not love him back. He becomes insane and when he ran after her he acted almost
as if he was about to rape her. He tries to touch her even if she told him that she is
married and has children already.
SYMBOLISMS

• Ocean/Sea: The ocean is a symbol of power, strength, life, mystery, hope and truth. It is
also referred to as being the tears, or sorrow, of God. The ocean's salt symbolizes
stability, which is ironic since the characters mind was anything but stable.
• Fire: Fire consumes, warms, and illuminates, but can also bring pain and death; thus, its
symbolic meaning varies wildly, depending upon the context of its use. It is often the
symbol of inspiration.
• Rose: In general, a rose is symbolic of love, beauty and/or something of value. Outside of
the realm of literature, roses and their colors are symbolic: red roses can symbolize
passion, while white roses can symbolize purity.
