The VCX-100 is another light freighter produced by the
Corellian Engineering Corporation. VCX’s were designed
to carry as much cargo as possible while still being able
to perform as well as CEC’s YT series freighters. The
VCX-100 appears to have accomplished this goal by
being slightly less modifiable while slightly more costly.
The VCX series, unlike YT’s, typically have an upper main
deck and a lower cargo deck to make room for the extra
capacity. The early “fat” light freighters of the VCX line
lost performance and handling due to this heavier
fuselage. Ship owners often compensated by modifying
or adding new thrusters. The VCX-100 made up for this
by adding secondary thrusters installed at the factory.

The VCX-100 is known for its characteristic large front

gun turret. While many dislike its limited firing arc,
pilots praise being able to lock this turret forward and
fire it from the main cockpit when lacking extra crew to
man the forward gunnery station.

The VCX-100 includes two large escape pods port and

starboard. The escape pods include a clamp on one end
and hatches on both, allowing them to double as
docking rings when attached to the freighter.
