Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Health (Grade-II)

I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:

A. distinguish the proper hours of sleeping;


B. determine the benefits of sleeping at regular hours; and
C. appreciate the value of proper sleeping hours.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: A good sleeping habit

Reference: Health Grade 3

Materials: Marker, Power point Presentation, picture cards, flashcards

III. Procedure:

A. Preliminary Activities:
 Prayer
 Classroom setting
 Pupils setting
 Motivation: Song “Are you Sleeping Brother John?”
 Drill: Ask question to your pupils
How many hours did you sleep last night?

B. Analysis/Discussion:
Sleep is the condition of body and mind such as that which typically
recurs for several hours every night. The child like you needs 8 to 12 hours of
sleep to make your body restore the energy that you spent the entire day.
Your body is so active that you need rest to revitalize that energy spent.
Sleeping is very important for the growth of a feeble body like yours.
Ideally, the best sleeping hours is from 8 o’clock in the evening to 6
o’clock in the morning. It is also advisable to take a fifteen minutes nap in the
afternoon for younger children. To be able to sleep soundly, you must
maintain the calm surroundings, relaxing atmosphere, clean body and clean,
comfortable beddings. And most of all, pray before you sleep.

C. Abstraction/ Generalization:

What is sleeping?
How many hours did you sleep last night?
D. Application: (Group Activity)
Draw the way you slept last night, color it and show it to the class.

IV. Evaluation:

On your activity notebook, copy and answer the following questions:

1. How many hours did a young child must sleep?


2. Why sleeping is good for you?
3. What is sleeping?
4. What are the good habits before sleeping?
5. What benefits does sleeping gives you?

V. Agreement:

Ask your mother about the sleeping habits that you had when you are younger.
Write it on your activity notebook and report it on the class tomorrow.
