Elements of Art.

(Auditory)

Rhythm.
The pattern of regular or irregular pulses caused in music by the
occurrence of strong and weak melodic and harmonic beats.

Dynamics.

The varying levels of volume of sound in different parts of a musical


performance. Variety can also be obtained without affecting the musical
substance simply by repeating a melody with different dynamics or
instruments.

Melody.
A sequence of single notes that is musically satisfying. The principal
part in harmonized music. We have the melody and bass of a song
composed by Strozzi.

Harmony.
The simultaneous combination of tones, especially when blended into
chords pleasing to the ear, chordal structure, as distinguished from melody
and rhythm.

Timbre.
Also known as tone color or tone quality (from psychoacoustics),
is the perceived sound quality of a musical note, sound or tone.
Texture.

The quality created by the combination of the different elements in a


work of music or literature.
