November Moon Phases November Highlights

> Leonids Meteor Shower - Through mid-to-late November, the spectac-
ular Leonids meteor shower will scatter our sky with shooting stars. These
meteors come from the tale of the comet Tempel-Tuttle, a periodic comet
LAST NEW FIRST FULL which last swept through Earth’s orbit in 1998. The peak of the shower
11/08 11/14 11/21 11/29 will occur on Tuesday, November 17, with at least 10-15 meteors each
hour.

> Penumbral Eclipse - During the evening of November 29 the full moon
may appear to be a bit darker in color as it enters the outer portions of
Earth’s shadow in a penumbral eclipse. Compared to the “blood moon” of
full lunar eclipses, penumbral eclipses are significantly less dramatic, with
the moon simply taking on a dark gray color.
