    A knight was originally a mounted warrior in the Middle Ages. To become a knight, one had to go through three stages - page, squire, and knight. As a page from ages 7 to 14, a boy served a noble family. From 14 to 21 as a squire, a boy learned combat skills by assisting a knight. At 21, a man could be knighted if approved and could participate in tournaments, following a code of chivalry with rules to be brave, honorable, respect women, and defend the church.
