Functions of A Technical Manager
The technical manager is a versatile position that requires sufficient managerial skills as well
as sufficient technical skills. A technical manager should be able to perform all necessary tasks
related to company systems as well as to asses any technical issues. They must oversee the
development and implementation through all steps of the process. They must make sure their
team is fully trained and able to perform their jobs. They are responsible for making key
decisions for technical issues related to the company after considering everything from cost to
quality. To be responsible that within the Technical Department an awareness is maintained of
the need for suitable development for properties to be acquired and that the Company are made
aware of all relevant information coming to the attention of the Department's staff which may
assist in the identification and securing of sites. Be responsible that detailed technical
investigation, design, optimization is secured and that proper liaison is maintained with statutory
authorities, and that all necessary documentation are produced to enable contracts to be let and a
site to be developed by the Build Department. To be responsible for identifying and resolving
technical design and constructional problems including: Maintaining a general awareness of
current material and construction research and making recommendations or giving warnings as
appropriate. To be responsible that full and accurate technical appraisals, abnormal costing of
potential development land are provided within required timescales. To be responsible that the
most cost effective options are recommended by ensuring that the site can be properly serviced
and constructed upon.
