Pre-Primary and Primary Sections

Dear Parents,

In these difficult times, several educational institutions, businesses and other organizations
turned to a platform commonly known as ‘Zoom,’ When we announced that Asma’s
Montessori was to begin online classes, most people assumed that we would also be making
use of the same. However, we decided to send the students recorded lectures instead.

Our lessons are planned according to the curriculum already followed in school. There are
indirect aims behind every story, for example, in the Primary curriculum, Allie’s Adventure
highlights the alphabets, and the story of the Chick and the Duckling introduces the concept
of cause and effect and so on.

Math and Sensorial lessons will overlap due to similarities in their teachings, and similarly
so would Language and Culture. These lessons will include Montessori material
presentations of Language, Math, Sensorial and Exercises for Practice Life (EPL), which are
usually introduced in Pre-Primary and continued on till Primary varying in degrees of
difficulty as per the age groups of our students.

The online lessons will include much repetition, in order to combat the lack of physical
demonstration and achieve the same level of precision and improvement in a child’s
vocabulary as attained in person.

Since the children are young, we have realized that they learn best while listening to songs
for all subjects and while books are being read aloud to them. Thus, we have acquired musical
videos of the concepts that are taught in the teachers’ presentation. The books used in our
read-aloud videos are those that would have been introduced to the children if school had
been ongoing as per usual.

The following instructions need to be followed in order to access the online lessons:
❖ Log on to the school’s website – www.asmasmontessori.pk
❖ Type in your child’s School Portal User ID (Sent via SMS)
❖ Type in your child’s School Portal Password (Sent via SMS)
❖ Click the link to access the Video Lectures
Pre-Primary and Primary Sections

The lessons will stay on the Parent Portal till each Saturday, so parents and children can
repeat the lessons as much as required during the week, and at their own time. However, we
suggest that parents allot a certain time in the morning for this online learning. Set timings
and discipline will greatly help our children to focus and absorb the concepts.

The apparatus required for these online lectures are a device on which the videos can be
played, and a printer, through which the accompanying worksheets and handouts can be
printed. The completed worksheets are to be sent to school at the end of every month.

We had a short window during eased lockdown restrictions, where we worked hard to find a
team of people for recording, editing and putting together presentations for each day of online
classes. Teachers were assigned separate tasks in the interest of efficiency and social
distancing.

At Asma’s Montessori, we have always encouraged learning from screens, and always
ensured that there was a television and a laptop available for every section, which were
religiously used in order to strengthen learning. Therefore it was easy for us to put together
presentations for every week of every grade as we had relevant videos and worksheets in
class laptops.

We believe that despite deteriorating conditions of the world in terms of this pandemic, the
students should find normalcy in some kind of ‘school’ environment, and that the concept of
online learning from a young age will help them to succeed later on in life, due to the
increasing emphasis on technology in almost all fields, including education, industry and
corporate sectors.

Ms. Sabah B. Ali (Academic Head) will be in charge of the Pre-Primary and Primary
Sections. Our aim is to make communication between the school and parents very smooth,
therefore any queries or concerns may be addressed to her and emailed on our school ID
asmasmontessori@gmail.com

Parents will also be added to a school WhatsApp group where updates will be posted as and
when required.

We look forward to a fresh and smooth beginning of our Academic Year 2020-2021

Administration
