Do you agree on the policy of our school on not allowing you to use your
mobile phones even if it's break time or lunch break?

Every school has different rules for the use of mobile phones. But most of them allow their
students to bring their mobile phones as long as they will turn it off during their class. For me, if
it is class hour, students should only use their mobile phones if they are permitted. But if the
school doesn’t allow their students to use their mobile phones during break time, I think that’s
too much. Using our mobile phones doesn’t mean that we’re doing something wrong. Some of
us are using it because we want to play, some of us are using it because we’re doing research,
some of us are using it because we want to relax and just listen to music. The negative side of
not allowing the students to freely use their mobile phones during break time is that our
coordinator teachers are having a hard time inspecting the classrooms one by one just to catch
the students that are using their mobile phones.

They should allow us to use it as long as it doesn’t affect our studies. For example, we need our
mobile phones to practice our piece, to practice our presentation. Sometimes when our teacher
is having a lack of time in discussing our lessons due to the suspensions, we’re not able to copy
the lessons to our notebooks anymore because our teacher is doing their best to finish the
lesson as soon as possible so that they are already allowing us to capture the slides in their
power point presentation. We are using our mobile phones for a good reason. We in section
Jade, we all eat our baon during our break time so that we have time to relax during our lunch
time.

Most of the time I am using my phone during our lunch break not because I’m chatting
someone through messenger. I’m using my phone to listen to music for me to have a peace of
mind. Having a peace of mind is so important to all of us and that’s my way on how I have mine.
All in all, I do not agree on the policy of this school on not allowing us to use our mobile phones
even if it’s break time and lunch time. Because just like what I said, we’re using it not to
destruct ourselves but to help ourselves do our tasks easily. But we, the students, should also
know our limitations. We should know our dos and don’ts when it comes to the use of mobile
phones. We should all be responsible to our actions.
