COVID-19

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute

respiratory syndrome (SARS). It was first identified in 2019 in Wuhan, China. The virus
has now spread to many countries and territories, resulting in the 2019-2020 coronavirus
pandemic. A lot is still unknown about the virus that causes COVID-19 but they said that
it is transmitted through direct contact with respiratory droplets of an infected person like
coughing and sneezing. A person can also be infected from touching surfaces
contaminated with the virus and touching their face like eyes, nose, and mouth.

The common symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Other symptoms
may include muscle pain, sputum production, diarrhea, sore throat, abdominal pain, and
loss of smell or taste. While the majority of cases result in mild symptoms, some progress
to pneumonia and multi-organ failure. More rarely, the disease can be fatal. These
symptoms are similar to the flu (influenza) or the common cold, which are a lot more
common than COVID-19. This is why testing is required to confirm if someone has
COVID-19.

It is important that communities take action to prevent further transmission, reduce the
impacts of the outbreak and support control measures while the virus continues to spread.
The protection of the children and educational facilities is particularly important.
Precautions are necessary to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19.

All the affected countries are now taking action and planning on how to stop and prevent
the spread of this virus especially here in the Philippines. The first case of novel
coronavirus in the Philippines was confirmed 30 January 2020, in a 38-year old woman
who arrived from Wuhan. Now that the Philippines is one of the high-risk countries from
the coronavirus outbreak, the government has announced lock-down of Metro Manila
followed by the entire Luzon island. The Philippines government declared a state of
calamity in the country.

I want to say that coronavirus disease is a serious problem for all the people. Care must
be taken to avoid the spread of it. Home quarantine is the first important in preventing the
spread of virus. Few people are around, then there is a higher chance of stopping this
virus. But the cases of COVID-19 are increasing and the people dying is also increasing
so we need to do our role and cooperate to survive. We need to use our minds and do
whatever it takes by taking care of ourselves to fight this virus. Life is important to us and
let’s pray for all the people at high risk including us to stop this COVID-19. We need to
help each other and be prepare because panicking will not gonna help us. So we need to
stay at home and maintain cleanliness for better protection. Get all what we needs and we
will fight this by taking care each other. Have faith in God and for all the people who do
their jobs to stop this COVID-19. Take actions and not overreacting.
